The weekly brief: what moved, store by store
A second kind of brief for readers over many stores. Four measures, week over week, biggest change first.
Over three stores, the daily brief asks the right question: what needs doing today. Over two hundred, a different question matters more: where did the week go? The weekly brief answers that one. Pick Weekly in Edit AI COO, choose a day, and AI COO writes a different document on that morning instead of the daily one.
What it covers
The weekly brief compares every store with its own prior week on four measures that every POS reports, whatever you sell:
- Net sales
- Orders
- Average ticket
- Hourly labor
Stores are ranked by the size of the change, not by which levers happen to be open that morning. The store that moved most, in either direction, comes first. A corporate reader over many stores gets the shape of the week in the first few lines, rather than three levers out of two hundred stores.
How it reads
The opening sentence describes the portfolio as a whole, and it says "across" on purpose. "23 stores down 1.8% on the week" reads as if every store fell 1.8%, when the figure is the total over all of them. So the brief writes "Across 23 stores, net sales were down 1.8%". It only claims all of your stores when every one of them had a full week on both sides to compare. If two stores were missing a day of data, it says "Across 21 of 23 stores", because leaving a store out of the number without saying so quietly overstates how much of the brand the sentence covers.
After that come the biggest movers, up and down, then the week's levers.
The week's levers, not today's
A weekly brief carries every lever AI COO confirmed over the same seven days the movement covers. Reading only that morning's findings would drop Tuesday through Sunday without telling anyone.
A busy brand can raise dozens of levers in a week, so the email and the app split the work:
- The email gives the count and a button.
- The app shows the full list, grouped by store, one store per row that opens to show its levers.
Both count the same window, so the number in your inbox matches the number on the page. The app reads them live, because which of them has been answered is usually the reason you open it.
By text
If you take the weekly brief by text, you get what the cadence is for: the movement, the biggest movers either way, then the levers as a count and a link. It runs to roughly two or three text segments at any portfolio size. On a busy week it names fewer movers rather than dropping the line, because one store either way still tells you where the week went.
GMs stay on the daily brief
Whatever the owner or corporate reader picks, GMs keep their daily text. A GM's job is the shift in front of them, and a labor problem held back for a weekly summary is a week of payroll spent before the store hears about it. Each store's lever still goes to its GM the morning it is found.
Who should use it
- Corporate teams and multi-unit operators over many stores, who need the week's shape more than each morning's detail.
- Readers who already see their stores daily and want one clean look back.
Single-store owners usually want the daily brief, which carries today's lever for their store.
How to switch
- Open AI COO and choose Edit AI COO for the brand.
- Under schedule, choose Weekly and pick any day of the week, for example Weekly, Thursday, 7:00 AM.
- Save. The brief arrives on your own clock, set in Settings > Profile.
You can switch back to Daily at any time. Nothing about your levers, stores or GMs changes when you do. See AI COO for how the daily brief works.
Common questions
- What does Franlever’s weekly brief cover?
- The weekly brief explains what moved across the owner’s covered stores during the week and includes the relevant levers from that period. It is a weekly operating review, rather than a copy of that morning’s daily brief.
- Can I choose which day my weekly franchise brief arrives?
- Yes. Select a weekly cadence and the delivery day in Edit AI COO. Check the schedule and your profile time zone so it arrives when you review the week.
- Do GMs still receive daily levers when the owner chooses a weekly brief?
- Yes. Eligible GM delivery remains daily. A weekly owner review does not make a store wait a week for its next useful lever.
- Can I receive Franlever’s weekly brief by text?
- Yes, with text delivery configured and SMS opt-in completed. The text keeps the weekly read concise and links to the fuller brief when there is more to review.
